Niagra-on-the-lake

Around 15000 people are living in this very nice and well kept town on the Lake Ontario shore. From 1792 - 1796 it was the capitol of Upper Canada under the name of Newark. The the capitol was moved to York (now: Toronto) because it was further from the border to Amerika. In 1813 the americans burned down Newark and it was later rebuild under the new name. Every year there is a Shaw festival where plays by Georg Bernhard Shaw are played at the three theaters from may until october. A must to stop on the way to the falls.
