Cairo - Giza pyramides

The only survivors of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World, built by generations of father, son and grandson and the work started about 2500 BC. These tombs are impressive when it comes to work. Buried there were Khufu (Cheops) in the tallest pyramide, then Khafre (Chephren) his son, and in the end Menkaure (Mycernius) his grandson. It is estimated that 2,3 million blocks of rock were used to build the largest pyramide, that stood 146m tall when finished (today redused by 9m) Khafre pyramide is 136m, but as it is built on a hill it looks larger than his fathers. The last one is now 62m tall. Behind this pyramide you will see 3 smaller ones which are the ones for the queens. It is possible to climb into the pyramide to have a look at the coffin still there. The passage is narrow and its rather hot inside. but it was nice just to have been there.
