Cairo - Giza Sphinx

We don't know why the sphinx were built, but it is supposed to be done during the reign of Khafre. In arabic its named Abu al-Hol (father of terror) During time it has been damaged. The nose is estimated to be cut off between the 11th and 15th centuries, and not by Napoleon. Part of the fallen beard wascarted off by 19th century adventures, and is now on display in the British Museum in London. But its interesting to have a look at it when you are in Giza
