A CULTURAL TRAVEL THROUGH IMAGES

Egypt - miSr (in arabic)
Aswan - Odds and ends

Here are some more of what I saw in Aswan.

The unfinished obelisk. Aswan quarriers were Egypt's main sourse of granite, and the ancient Egyptians hacked out most of the hard stoned used in their statuary and to embellish tempels and pyramides here. You can watch what would have been the largest obelisk here. It is 42m long and would have weighed 1168 tonns. Unfortunately a flaw appeared, so its still here.

The high dam or Sadd al-Ali. It was build between 1960 and 1971. You can take a trip out there, and have a walk on it, looking at the surroundings.

Some scenes from the town of Aswan and finally the quay, where the Nile-cruiseboats are lined up. Not only along the quay, but also up to 4 beside each other. So we could have a look at the receptionarea of them while walking though. After boarding our boat, M/S Florence we were ready to sail down the Nile for new experiences.
