At Aquileia you can find one of the best
preserved areas with roman mosaique. Inside the basilica the
floor is covered with pictures of animal, flowers and human
beeings. There are also more than the basilica to look at, so you
can spend some hours here. Aquileia is on the road between Venice
and Trieste, about an hour or so from Trieste. You will also find
a well decorated crypt under the church in addition to a roman
