Jongmyo temple area

The royal shrine Jongmyo was build concurrently with Gyeongbokgun to enshrine the ancestral tablets of the first Yi-king Taejo. Today, with the exeption of two kings of some disrepute, the ancestral tablets of all 27 Yi-kings are enshrined here. There are two shrines on the grounds: Jongjeon and Yeongnyeongjeon.
