Changgyeonggung temple area

Changgyeonggung was orginally a goryeo dynasty summer palace, built in 1104. In early 1390's the first Yi king, Taejo lived here while Gyengbokgung was completed. During the japanese occupation, the palace was demoted to a park, a colonial style red building built, and a botanical garden and zoo moved here. The zoo has been relocated to Seoul Grand Park. The houses and area is very nice, and if you have entered Jongmyo first, there is a free access across a footbridge across the road that pass between the two areas. Well worth a visit.
