Gongju - The tombs

The city was established in 475 AD as the second capital of the Baekje kingdom. In 1971 the untouched grave of King Muryeong (AD 501 - 23) was discovered, and you can visit the grave to see how it was at the site, and all those things they found in the grave are found in the Gongju National Museum. At the graves there are copies and they have re-build the grave as it was when found.

When I visited the area the graves were under maintaince, so they were all closed, but the visit was nice anyway, and to have the view complete you must pay a visit to the museum. No photo inside though.
