Poseokjeong Watercourse
The king used this place for drinking parties. Floating cups were available for his guests around the loop made in the shade of an abalone shell. There used to be a royal palace here, but this is all that's left today
Cheomseongdae Observatory
This is the world's earliest known observatory, from the 7th century bottle shaped stone structure. Its probably built during the reign of Queen Seondeok. Its 5.17 m in diameter (17 ft) and 9.4 m high (31 ft)
Anapji Pond
The Silla royal family relaxed and enjoyed themselves here and entertained guest. Surrounded by trees, ponds and natural stones are in a harmonious royal garden. When they drained the pond in 1974 they revealed a veritable treasure trove of Silla artefacts which are on display in the Gyeongju National Museum
Other tomb areas.
When walking around in the city you will find a lot of areas where you can see tombs or marks of where there have been temples or palaces. Here is one you can see along your walk
Dumuli Park - Taeneungwon
Here you will find a collection of royal Silla tombs. The park contains 20 tombs with Cheonmachong (Flying Horse Tomb) as the most famous. It was excavated in 1974 and yielded more than 10.000 treasures. You can see these treasures, including a golden crown and girdle at the National Museum. You can enter the tomb where you can see how hte huge tombs were constructed and how the items were arranged in them (no pictures)
