About 16 km (10 miles) outside Gyeongju you will find one of the most famous templearea in Korea. It was originally built in 528 AD during the reign of King Beop-heung and enlargened in 751. It was destroyed by the japanese in 1593. Not until 1970 it was rebuilt to its former glory. Its well worth a visit.
