The Seokguram grotto is from the same era as Bulguksa, and is one of Asia's greatest Buddhist shrines. It's surrounded by Bodhisattvas and guardians deities and the serenes central statue of Buddha grazes out over the forested hill and across the East Sea to the horizon.
It's not allowed to take pictures where the statue is, but I've added some pictures from the local museum that shows the buddha and items in the shrine. Here you will also find some other items of local interest.
When you have visited the grotto a good idea is to walk down to the Bulguksa, a nice trip through the woods on an easy track. Distance is 3.2 km.
