Dosan Seowon used to be a
Confucian academy founded in 1557 by Yi Toegye, Korea's foremoste
Confucian scholar during the reign of king Senjo. It was the most
prestigious school for aspirants to high offices in the civil
service during the middle years of the Yi dynasti.
Some famous expressions
includes: 'When you are alone, behave decently' and 'In
practicing virtue one should perform it with perseverance,
suppressing ones' desire'
