Suwon - The Hwaseong Fortress

You will find the Hwaseong Haenggung fortress to be a new one, but build in accordance with old traditions. Very nice and interesting to visit. But what Suwon is most famous for are the 5,7 km long fortresses and protection walls.

It was build by King Jeongjo (ruled 1776 - 1800) and is restored so you can enjoy how it was in that time. Its one of many protected sites, and on the UNESCO cultural heritage list.
