This is one of the oldest
and most important temples in Korea today. The original temple
was constructed in the 4th century. In the 13th century the
second set of the Tripitakea Koreana was carved. It consists of
81.258 wooden blocks which spell out the Buddist sutras. Later
they were moved to the Haeinsa Temple, and you can have a look at
them there - or visit on my homepages from the visit there. The
temple is within the Samnangseong fortress.
