Lyse monastry is the oldest in Norway, founded in 1146. It was a cisterciener monastry under Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire, England. At its time it was one of the most wealthy. Around 1500 stones were taken from the monastry to build Bergenhus castle. But even today you can get a good impression of how it must have been like many years ago.
