Voss

The pictures here are mostly from the central part of Voss. The beautiful stone church was finished around 1277. Built in romanesque and early gotic style. There is also a cross from 1023 that should have been owned by King Olav, the saint who died in 1030 and became a saint. Other older buildings you can also find at Finnesloftet from 1250 and of course in the local museum. They estimate that the first people settled at Voss about 7000 years ago.

Today Voss is the central part of the municipality and connection area for transport. Well known for various sport activities all year around and many famous sportsmen and woman were born here. Every year there is this 'extreme sport' week and the sportsmen and women loves to join in there. Maybe you have heard the name Knute Rokne, he emigrated to USA and became a famous trainer of fotball there.
