Harstad

People have been living in the Harstad area since Vikingage. Its importance grew during the 1800's during the very rich herring fishing that took place. It became a town in 1904 and had 19,297 inhabitants on January 1st 2002. It is situated on the largest island in Norway named Hinnøy. Midnightsun is seen in the town between May 23rd and August 22nd. Hope the pictures gives an impression of the changes that take place when sun and rain sail over the changing sky.
