  Tromsø

Tromsø is the largest town in the northern part of Norway with its 64000 inhabitants. It was founded in 1794, but people have been living here much longer, as the first church were build as early as in 1252. Since 1972 it have had an university dealing specially with things related to the artic. It is situated on Tromsøya, connected to the mainland with two bridges, of which the Tromsøbridge (1036m) is the most famous. Tromsø have also been important in the study of the artic, and many expeditions have started here. There is a good nite-life and Tromsø is often referred as the Paris of the north. It looks like Tromsø also will be among the competiors who will apply for the Olympic Wintergames for 2018, and I wish them the best of luck - as I think that would be something special. The midnight sun is visable betwen May 21 and July 23.
