Svalbard - Adventvalley & Museum

From Longyearbyen you can drive southeast through Adventdalen (the advent valley) and have a look at the interesting formations of the landscape you will find there. You can also have a look at various new sientic areas, and a huge cennel for sledgedogs, used during the winterseason. From the entrance of Mine 7 you have agreat look out through Adventdalen. The view is great. After that I can recoment a visit to the local museum. A very modern one that gives you a lot of information about the area you are visiting, both from the first settlers arrived back in the 1600's and up to the studies that goes on today. The fantastic wild-life is well presented too, so you can get a good view of the animals and birds, in case you dont happen to see them life.
