Norge - Norway - Noreg
Svalbard - New London

From Ny Ålesund we sailed across the fjord to Blomstrand and picked up some hikers who had stayed there for about a week. We saw a nice glacier on the way. Then we sailed to Ny (new) London where the englishman Mr. Mansfield started a huge production of some special artic stone he had sold on the european marked and had great expectations for. In 1911 he sent his first shipment, and when it arrived in London it was 'gone up' in small parts. That was the first and only time stones were exported, but Mr. Mansfield stayed up here for many years and searched for other valuables, but never found anything worth starting production of. Today the equipement they imported from England are still visable. Some of the houses were transferred to Ny Ålesund, and are still in use there.
