We started just aross the
hotel in the Santo Domingo where you will find the remains of the
largest temple in the inka periode, dedicated to the Sun god.
Unfortunately most of the temple were destroyed by the
conquestadores, and all the valuables were melted and sent back
to Spain, so there are not much left of that. But the building
gives a good impression of the skill of the inkas when it comes
to buildings.
After the visit we walked
to the Plaza de Armas. On the way we passed the longest remaining
wall of the inka temple in Cuzco. A visit inside the cathedral is
essensial. The rooms are filled with beautiful paintings and
carvings. Also the typical style the local used when they copied
famous paintings are well represented. The Plaza is a very
popular meeting spot, and there are many resturants where you can
sit and overlook the activities of the plaza, day and night.
