Peru - Cuzco province   Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu - one of the best known ancient place on the earth, and it is well worth a visit. It is impressive, and knowing that it was not destroyed by the conquestadores like most of the ancient buildings in the inkacountry. It is expected that there were not many people living there when it was in use, but an important place where the inka arrived to do the nessesary praying together with his court. Some think that the reason why it was not destroyed could be that there were not much gold or silver here, or that the access were too difficult. Its more easy today, but takes nearly 30 minutes up the twisting road from the valley down under.
