A CULTURAL TRAVEL THROUGH IMAGES

South Africa Suid Afrika
Gauteng province
Johannesburg

Today have one large problem - crime. We were warned about going outside after dark, and even through daytime we were warned to go out alone. When we drove through the center of Johannesburg there were hardly any white people to see, and shops were closing down. That's why I had to take more than normal number of pictures through the bus window on this trip.

Soweto - South Western Township

A large area where the black had to live during apartheid. Today a settlement with both new and old houses, and also sqatter-areas where the living condition were at its worst. It was interesting to visit the township to learn how it functioned today.

A witty tongue told us that the "GP" on the licence plates from Gauteng mean "Gangsters Paradice"
