On the road towards Whittier

We drove to Whittier on a nice coach taking us the 60 miles (96 km) from Anchorage to Whittier. The sceneries along the Turnagain Arm, turning towards Whittier and along rainforest. Interesting to watch the 'stoned' trees that died after the area was fludded with salt water. Before we reached the longest tunnel in North America we enjoyed the view of the Portage glacier. It's not long since the cars were allowed through the tunnel, so before that they drove onto the railway and got though. Even today its a single lane tunnel, so there are special opening hours in both directions for whiricles and trains to cross.
