This must be one of the most impressive
areas of the Mayas, with the magnificent pyramide of Kukulcan as
the best. You can climb to the top, where you have a wonderful
view over the whole area with all the other buildings on the
area. But it is a tough climb - not forgetting to get down again,
because the stairs feel quite steep.
The pyramide you see is actually build
upon an older one, and you can even climb that one - inside this
big one. From these huge pyramides humans have been sacrified
through time, even into the cenote on the area. But remember, at
that time it was an honor to sacrifice your life, because that
made you go to heaven, and not down to hell.
