Peru - Puno district
From Araquipa towards Puno

So we continued, and during the day we lifted ourselves from about 2500 meters across 4528 until we arrived in Puno at around 3800m. The altitude had some effects on the guests, specially headace, but most got over the problems within a day or two. The landscape was still very dry when we left Arequipa, but the closer we got to Puno the more vegitation appeared, slowly but definate. The trips takes you through huge rather flat areas surrounded by even higher mountainranges, and were changing all the time. The railroad went along with the new road, and that was very important when it was finished around 1870. At the start of the day we still had good view of Misti and Chachani, but now from an other angle than we were used to.
