USA
Alaska
Along the coast

When we woke up in the morning we were sailing along the Alaskan coast where the sceneries were great. It was a bit cloudy in the morning, but they dissapeared very soon. First highlight was when we passed the second highest mountain in the US, the 5489m high Mount St. Elias, raging way above the clouds. After lunch we slowly entered the Yakutat bay to arrive at the very impressive Hubbard glacier. From its source in the Yukon, the glacier stretches 122 km (76 mi) to the sea at Yakutat Bay and Disenchantment Bay. Named in 1890 after Gardiner G. Hubbard (regent of the Smithsonian Institution and first president of the National Geographic Society), it is the longest tidewater glacier in Alaska, with an open calving face over 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) wide. I hope the pictures can give you an impression of the huge dimentions there.
